The 21st annual Native Hawaiian Convention in Honolulu, hosted by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, included a panel of the state\u2019s four county mayors discussing the relationship of regenerative tourism with community, culture and the environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cAloha is the essence of Hawai\u02bbi, and regenerative tourism really means being aloha,\u201d Maui Mayor Michael Victorino said. \u201cThe hospitality industry needs to give back more than it takes and recognize that each community is unique.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat works in south Maui may not work in Moloka\u02bbi or H\u0101na. We have to build connections with our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 1,500 community members are attending the convention that included hula by Ka L\u0101 \u02bb\u014cnohi Mai \u02bb\u014c Ha\u02bbeha\u02bbe and Pi\u02bbikea Lopes, Miss Aloha Hula 2022.<\/p>\n

The convention, with a theme of hulihia, featured an in-depth discussion about the Red Hill fuel spill crisis on O\u02bbahu. The panelists:<\/p>\n
